Koduri Srisaila Sri Rajamouli (professionally known as S.S. Rajamouli) is one of the top Directors and Screenwriters in Telugu Cinema who is predominantly known for high fantasy and period films.
S.S. Rajamouli had his own struggles even after being the son of famous director and screenwriter Koduri Venkata Vijayendra Prasad. In his initial days, not being much educated, he was completely dependent on his wife’s earnings, he used to drop and pick her up from office. His self confidence waned at times due to lack of money.
S.S. Rajamouli started his career by assisting famous director K. Raghavendra Rao and became a household name after the success of Baahubali Franchise. His film ‘Baahubali 2 : The Conclusion’ became the 1st Indian film ever to collect 1000 crore. The film had set a record collection of Rs.5 billion even before the release of the film through satellite and theatrical rights.
The ace director has also had a brief acting stint, he has done a cameo in few of his films. He also appeared in ‘Baahubali : The Beginning’ for a few short minutes in a barely recognisable avatar, as a spirit seller.
He has directed well known actors like Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah, NTR Jr, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgan and Alia Bhatt. After facing all the struggle, today he has become one of the highly successful directors, gaining recognition all over the country and abroad.

He was honoured with the ‘Padma Shri’ award in 2016. He has received National Film Award for his films ‘Eega’(2012), ‘Baahubali : The Beginning’ (2015) and ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ (2017).
He was also awarded with the Star World India ‘Entertainer of The Year’ in 2012. He has won 4 Filmfare Awards – Telugu Film Industry, 3 Nandi Awards, 2 CineMAA Awards and 2 South Indian International Movie Awards for ‘Best Director’.
In 2016, he portrayed professor Ramchandra Siras, in Hansal Mehta’s biographical drama Aligarh, for which he won his third ‘Filmfare Critics Award’ for Best Actor & the ‘Best Actor Award’ at Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
